The Pre-departure orientation training was commissioned by GLOBAL HOPE HOLDINGS in pursuant of the regulations 70(2) (d) and 72 (1) of the Employment (Recruitment of Ugandan Migrant Workers Abroad regulations 2005 and in accordance to the guidelines of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development on the recruitment and placement of migrant workers abroad.
The Pre-departure orientation training programme was delivered to provide the migrant workers with timely, comprehensive, and accurate information to help them in the making of informed decisions as lack of information places the migrant workers in the most susceptible situations abroad.
The Pre-orientation training is of critical importance to migrant workers for it disposes them to the specific information regarding their duties, responsibilities as well as their own rights within the cultural differences and sensitivity. It further disposed the migrant workers to the differences of climatically and geographical orientation as well as to the different legal framework of the receiving country.
The training aimed to raise awareness of the migrant workers duties and obligations and of all those concern in their recruitment process i.e the workers themselves, the local and international recruitment companies, the Uganda’s embassy abroad and of their prospective employers in the countries of destinations.
